چکیده

Nasal dermoid sinus cysts (NDSCs) are uncommon midline developmental anomalies with an estimated incidence of 1:20,000 to 1:40,000 births.1,2 NDSCs are distinct from dermoids in other regions; they may have an intracranial extension, requiring careful interventional strategies. These lesions can be present anywhere in midline, as sinus or cyst, from glabella to columella, with glabella being the most common site. Intermittent secretion of cheesy offensive material on manipulation and recurrent infections are frequently observed. Hairy outgrowth from the sinus opening, if present, is pathognomonic, but is found in less than half of the patients.1,3 Preoperative radiological investigation with CT (computed tomography) and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans is mandatory to rule out intracranial extension. All in all, complete excision of the cyst along with its tract is the only definitive therapeutic modality. In this study,we report a case ofNDSC in a 3-year-oldmale childwho underwent excision byopen rhinoplasty approach.

Excision of a Nasal Dermoid Sinus Cyst via Open Rhinoplasty Approach and Primary Reconstruction Using Tutoplast-Processed Fascia Lata

Nasal dermoid sinus cysts are the most common congenital midline nasal lesion, accounting for 1% to 3% of all dermoid cysts, and 4% to 12% of all head and neck dermoids. Selection of the appropriate reconstruction technique, after dermoid resection, is important for treatment. Here we describe the successful management of a case with a nasal dermoid sinus cyst using an open rhinoplasty approach...

The managament of rare nasal mass-nasal dermoid sinus cysts: open rhinoplasty

The differential diagnosis of midline nasal masses includes inflammatory lesions, post-traumatic deformities, benign neoplasms, malignant neoplasms, congenital and vascular masses. Midline congenital lesions of the nose are rare congenital anomalies. Their incidence is estimated at 1 per 20,000 to 40,000 births consisting of gliomas, encephaloceles, and nasal dermoid sinus cysts. Nasal dermoid ...

Endoscopic removal of a dermoid cyst via scalp incision.

Nasal dermoid sinus cysts are the most common congenital midline nasal lesions. We describe a novel technique for the excision of a nasal dermoid cyst in a 2-year-old boy using a four hand endoscopic approach via a small scalp incision behind the hairline. The technique, although somewhat challenging, avoids a facial scar.

The Effectiveness of Modified Vertical Dome Division Technique in Reducing Nasal Tip Projection in Rhinoplasty

Background: The technique of vertical dome division or tip defining, involves incising the lateral crura and vestibular skin at or lateral to the dome or tip defining point. The incision di-vides the lower lateral cartilage into a lateral segment and a medial segment, which are advanced anteriorly and sutured together to increase tip projection. The present study aimed at assessing a new vertic...

Skin Excision as an Adjunctive Technique to Rhinoplasty in Middle-Aged and Elderly Patients

Rhinoplasty in middle-aged and elderly patients comes with its own set of challenges. There is relative lengthening of the nose with drooping of the nasal tip. With aging, the skin loses its elasticity, and the combination of nasal skeletal reduction along with overlying inelastic skin provides a setup for skin redundancy and poor postoperative outcome. We describe a surgical technique involvin...
